The Mixers formed around 1980 in Glasgow, Scotland, took their name from Anthony Burgess' "A Clockwork Orange" and featured three guitarists, a bassist and drummer. Their songwriting influences came predominantly from 1960s British beat groups, but their performance style was equally informed by bands from the punk/new wave era. They split around 1984. Their only record release was "All For Art & Art For All", an album compiled by Daniel Treacey of The Television Personalities and released on his Wha-am!!! label.
