Chris and Lee went to school in Shrewsbury and played a guitar each, sometimes collaboratively. The name Omatic came from an assumption made by a pub that received a tape from Chris and Lee on which it was written. But what’s a melody section without a rhythm section? Bollocks, that’s what. So Oliver and Michael made the duo into a proper band while at Shrewsbury sixth form. In September 2000 they recorded some songs and called them "Physics will remove me".
