Johannes de Erfordia, Herfordia (?) born in Erfurt (?), fl. third quarter of the 15th century (?), composer. In terms of music history, Johannes de Erfordia is significant simply because in the Codex Faenza (I-FZc 117) a total of five polyphonic movements bear this name; the identity with the older Franciscan of the same name, who was probably born around 1250 and died around 1320 in Erfurt, and who emerged from a number of theological tracts – especially a Summa Confessorum – is ruled out.
