Butch Thompson has played traditional New Orleans jazz music in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area since the 1960s - first on clarinet, then later on piano. He was a member of the Hall Brothers band that played in the 1970's and 1980's at the Emporium of Jazz, in Mendota, MN. Since then, he has played solo and with other artists, including periodically with the Bill Evans Jazz Band at Bennett's in Saint Paul, MN. For many years, Butch has been the host of a program called "Jazz Originals" on a local public radio station (KBEMFM).
