
Alula Down is British weird folk duo Kate Gathercole and Mark Waters (both are members of Herefordshire's Weirdshire collective). The duo plays traditional folk and self-written songs using a minimal approach, sound collage, and semi-improvisation of voice and instruments made of wood and reeds. "Sagging Pockets, Labelled Jars, Old Tobacco Tins", the duo's debut album, was self-released in 2008. A series of self-released albums have followed.
